Dallas Dream Home
The St. Jude Dream Home giveaway was created in 1991 by Dr. Donald Mack, a pediatric physician from Shreveport, Louisiana. Dr. Mack has relied on St. Jude Children's Research Hospital to treat many of his young patients with catastrophic diseases and was the first doctor to send the first out of state patient to St. Jude. Dr. Mack is also a member of the ALSAC/St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Board of Directors and Governors. The first St. Jude Dream Home was constructed in Shreveport, Louisiana and raised $160,000 for St. Jude. Since that first giveaway, the Dream Home event in Shreveport has become an annual fundraiser raising over $19 million for the hospital.
Today, the St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway is one of the largest single-event fundraiser for St. Jude nationwide and has raised more than $155 million for St. Jude. The program has been in existence for seventeen years and the St. Jude Dream Home program is currently active in over 40 markets and is expanding nationwide.
This is the second year in a row; the Dallas Dream Home is being built by Graham Hart Home Builder. Last year the Dream Home Campaign raised over $900,000.00 for ALSAC/St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. This year the home, valued at $320,000.00, is located at 15809 Bent Rose Way in their Fairways of Champions Circle community conveniently located in North Fort Worth.
We would like to thank all of our sponsors involved with the St. Jude Dream Home giveaway program. Your continuous support helps raise money in order for St. Jude to find cures for children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. St. Jude has treated children from all 50 states and children from countries around the world. St. Jude is the only pediatric cancer research center where families never pay for treatment not covered by insurance, and no child is ever denied treatment because of the family's inability to pay.
